Privacy policy

Last updated: October 24, 2026

This policy explains what information Reel Love (“Reel Love,” “we,” “us”) collects when you use our iOS and Android apps and reel-love.com (together, the “Service”), why we collect it, who helps us process it, and the choices you have.

The short version

  • Reel Love is for adults 18 and older only.
  • We collect what we need to run a video app: your account, your profile, the videos you post and how you use the app.
  • We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for targeted advertising or to track you across other companies' apps and websites.
  • Live calls are streamed in real time and are not recorded by us.
  • You can delete your account and its data at any time in Settings → Delete account.

Who we are

The Service is operated by Reel Love, which is the “controller” of your personal information. You can reach us at privacy@shootyourshot.co for anything about this policy.

What we collect

Account and sign-in

  • Email address and an internal account ID. If you sign in with email, we send a one-time 6-digit code to that address.
  • Sign in with Apple or Google: the account identifier and email the provider shares with us (Apple may give us a private relay address). With Google we also receive your name and profile photo; we use your first name and photo to start your profile.
  • Date of birth, required at sign-up to confirm you are 18 or older. It is set once and cannot be changed. Other people see your age, never your date of birth.

Profile (you choose what to add)

  • Name, profile photo, bio, and your “vibe” status line
  • Optional details such as height, profession, star sign, relationship status and energy
  • Your pinned shot
  • Gender (optional: woman, man or non-binary). It's shown on your profile and lets people who want to see a particular gender find you.

Who you want to see (optional)

  • The genders and age range you choose for your feed. This is private: only you can see it, and we use it only to filter what you're shown. Before you sign in it's kept on your device.
  • People you pass on with Not for me. Also private; the other person is never told.

Content and activity

  • Shots and replies (“shoot-backs”): the video and audio you record or upload, their thumbnails and captions, and when you posted them.
  • Conversations and matches: who shot their shot at whom, and whether it became a match (the other person shot back).
  • Reactions you send and receive, and the in-app notifications they create.
  • Reports and blocks: who you report or block, the reason you pick and any details you add.
  • Messages to us: anything you send when you email support.

Live calls

Live calls are private, 1:1 and last up to 3 minutes. The audio and video are streamed in real time through our video call provider and are not recorded or stored by us. We keep a record of the call itself: who called whom, the shot it started from, when it started and ended, and its status.

Notifications

  • A push token and the device platform (iOS or Android), only if you allow notifications. It is removed when you sign out on that device.
  • Your notification preferences (push on or off; reactions, replies and live calls).

Invites (“Bring a friend”)

  • Your personal invite code and link, and when you share it.
  • When someone opens an invite link: a random visitor ID stored in a cookie, the invite code, their browser's user agent and the referring web address.
  • If they sign up, a record that you invited them.

Usage and device information

  • In-app activity linked to your account, such as shots viewed and watch time, reactions, replies, calls joined, and app sessions.
  • Derived metrics we calculate from that activity, such as daily totals and how often two people reply to each other. We use them to run and improve the Service. We do not analyze the audio or video content of live calls.
  • Technical data: IP address, device and browser type, operating system, and server, error and security logs kept by us and our hosting providers.

Camera, microphone and photos

We use your camera and microphone only while you record a shot or are on a live call, and your photo library only when you pick a photo or video, or choose Save video. Saved videos are watermarked on your device and saved to your library; we do not receive a copy of your library.

If you turn on Let people share and save my shots, other users can send a link to your public shots and save them; the copy shows your first name as a credit. We keep a log of each save (who saved which shot, and when) for safety and abuse prevention, visible to you and to the person who saved it.

What we don't collect

We do not collect your precise location, your contacts, payment information (there are no purchases in the app) or your device's advertising ID.

How we use it, and our legal bases

Where privacy laws such as the GDPR require a legal basis, we rely on the ones shown in brackets.

  • Run the Service: create your account, sign you in, host and show your shots, deliver reactions and replies, connect live calls and send the notifications you ask for. [Performance of our contract with you]
  • Keep people safe: enforce the 18+ age requirement, review reports, remove content, ban abusive accounts, prevent fraud and spam, and secure the Service. [Legitimate interests; legal obligations]
  • Improve the Service: understand which features are used, fix bugs and measure performance. [Legitimate interests]
  • Invites: attribute sign-ups to the person who invited them. [Legitimate interests]
  • Push notifications: only after you allow them on your device; you can turn them off any time. [Consent]
  • Talk to you: answer support requests and send essential account messages. [Contract; legitimate interests]
  • Comply with the law: respond to valid legal requests and report illegal content, including child sexual abuse material, to the authorities. [Legal obligations]

We do not use automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects on you.

Who can see your information

  • Public shots can be seen by anyone, including people who are not signed in. Only you can share a link to your shots, unless you turn on Let people share and save my shots.
  • Shooting your shot at someone is private: only the two of you can see those videos. Others can see how many people shot their shot at a public shot, but not who.
  • Your gender is shown on your profile if you add it. Who you want to see and who you passed on are never shown to anyone.
  • Your profile (name, photo, age, bio, vibe and the optional details you add) is visible to others. Your email, date of birth and moderation history are not.
  • Blocked users cannot see your shots or profile, reply to you, react to you or call you.

Service providers we use

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only with providers that process it on our behalf, under contracts that limit how they can use it:

  • Supabase: database, sign-in, photo storage and background functions (sending notifications).
  • Cloudflare (Cloudflare Stream): video upload, processing, playback and the video file for Save video.
  • Vercel: hosting for the website and app servers.
  • Daily (Daily.co): real-time audio and video for live calls.
  • Apple: Sign in with Apple and push notification delivery on iOS (Apple Push Notification service).
  • Google: Google sign-in and push notification delivery on Android (Firebase Cloud Messaging).
  • Resend: delivery of sign-in code emails.

We may also disclose information:

  • When required by law, or to respond to valid legal process.
  • To protect the safety of any person, including reporting child sexual abuse material to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and law enforcement.
  • As part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, in which case this policy continues to apply to your information.

Cookies and local storage

We use only cookies and storage that the Service needs. We do not use advertising cookies.

  • Sign-in cookies (Supabase) keep you signed in.
  • sys_profile_ok remembers that you completed the age check, so we don't ask again (up to 30 days).
  • sys_vid is a random visitor ID set when you open an invite link (up to 1 year), and sys_ref holds the invite code until you sign up (up to 30 days).
  • Local storage on your device keeps small conveniences such as unsaved profile edits.

How long we keep it

  • Account, profile, shots, reactions, notifications and push tokens: until you delete them or your account.
  • Live call video and audio: never stored. Call rooms expire within minutes of the call.
  • Activity and invite records: when you delete your account, records that are not deleted outright have the link to your account removed and are kept only in de-identified form for aggregate statistics.
  • Safety records: reports you filed are deleted with your account. Reports about you and moderation actions are kept, with the link to your account removed, as long as needed to keep the Service safe, prevent banned users from returning, and meet legal obligations.
  • Backups and logs: residual copies in database backups and provider logs are removed as they rotate out on their normal schedule.
  • Legal holds: we may keep specific information longer when the law requires it, for example material reported to NCMEC.

Deleting your account

  1. Open the You tab (bottom right), tap the menu (top right), then Settings. You can also go straight to Settings.
  2. Tap Delete account and type DELETE to confirm.

Deletion happens right away and can't be undone. It removes your account and sign-in, your profile and photos, every shot and reply you posted (including the video files), your reactions, notifications, blocks, push tokens, notification preferences and invite code. See Help for details.

Can't get into the app? Email support@shootyourshot.co from the address on your account and we will delete it for you.

Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you, or get a copy of it in a portable format.
  • Correct it. You can edit most of your profile in the app.
  • Delete it, using Delete account or by emailing us.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing, and withdraw consent (for example, turn off push in Settings or in your device settings).

To make a request, email privacy@shootyourshot.co from the address on your account. We may need to verify your identity, and we respond within 30 days or the time the law requires. We will not treat you differently for exercising your rights.

Users in the EEA, UK and Switzerland

Reel Love is the controller of your personal information, and our legal bases are listed above. We and our providers store and process information in the United States and other countries. Where we transfer personal information out of the EEA, UK or Switzerland, we rely on safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.

Users in California and other US states

In the past 12 months we have collected these categories of personal information, for the purposes described above:

  • Identifiers (email, account IDs, IP address, push tokens)
  • Personal characteristics (age and date of birth)
  • Audio and visual information (videos and photos you post)
  • Internet or app activity (in-app activity and technical data)
  • Inferences (derived engagement metrics)
  • Account login credentials (handled by our sign-in provider)

We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we do not knowingly sell or share the information of anyone under 16. We use sensitive personal information only to provide the Service and keep it secure. You or an authorized agent can exercise your rights by emailing privacy@shootyourshot.co.

Children

Reel Love is for adults 18 and older only. Everyone confirms their date of birth before using the Service, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn an account belongs to someone under 18, we remove it. If you believe a minor is using the app, report the account in the app or email support@shootyourshot.co. See our Child safety standards.

Security

We use encryption in transit, access controls that limit who can read private data, and providers with strong security practices. No system is perfectly secure, so please keep access to your email and devices safe.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top. If the change is significant, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
